Hello!
My name is Jonathan Bauer and I have the privilege of serving as the pastor of Good News.
I probably don’t need to tell you that life is full of bad news. Yes, it’s what we see on television, chat about at the water cooler, and read about online. Perhaps the worst news of all, however, is the reality we are forced to admit about ourselves when we look in the mirror. It’s easy to be not that thrilled with what we see.
Thankfully, God fills our ears with news so good that it more than drowns out all the bad. God loves us unconditionally. Christ has paid for our sins completely. As the pastor of Good News, I get to see firsthand how the Bible’s good news gives people relief from life’s distressing noise.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about our church. Know that you are always welcome to join us. In the meantime, I’d love to hear from you or set up a time to meet in person!

About Me
I grew up not far from here in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. After high school, I attended Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin, to study to become a pastor.
When I finished school in 2008, I was assigned to serve as an associate pastor at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tempe, Arizona. After serving in Arizona for six years, my family and I moved to Mount Horeb in the summer of 2014, about one year after services at Good News had first started.
In addition to my service at two different congregations, I’ve enjoyed serving in our wider church body in a variety of ways, including as a writer, conference presenter, and as a member of our church body’s 2021 hymnal project.
I’m grateful to be blessed with a wonderful wife. We have enjoyed making Mount Horeb our home and raising our three children here. In my free time, I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, and staying active in a variety of ways.
